Gallatin Mourns the Loss of Retired Master Patrol Officer Vince Marquez

Community Honors Dedicated Service of Officer Marquez

Gallatin, Tennessee is grieving the passing of retired Master Patrol Officer Vince Marquez, who dedicated over two decades to the Gallatin Police Department.

Born on October 5, 1960, in Denver, Colorado, Marquez began his law enforcement career with the Gallatin Police Department on November 19, 2001.

He served the community for more than 20 years, retiring on April 25, 2022.

During his tenure, Marquez was an integral part of several specialized units, including the Emergency Response Team, Bike Patrol Unit, and the Parks Division.

His commitment to mentoring new officers as a Field Training Officer left a lasting impact on the department.

Beyond his police work, Marquez was a proud military veteran, serving over 34 years in the United States Air Force as a member of the Security Forces.

His military service included participation in Operation Desert Shield/Storm, the liberation of Kuwait, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the Global War on Terrorism.

Marquez's passion for the outdoors led him to establish Muddy Bayou Archery, where he mentored young archers who achieved state, regional, and national recognition.

He is survived by his daughter, Lainey Dyson (Joseph); granddaughter, Taylor Grace Dyson; brothers, Demetrio Marquez (Heather), Dominic Marquez (Rebecca), Robert Mestas, Gilbert Montour; sisters, Andrea Duff (Greg), Michelle Rosenberg, Lyrica Marquez; and stepmother, Gayle Lee.

Marquez was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Marquez and Juanita Archuletta, and siblings Ron Montour, Anthony Mestas, Valerie Escobido, and Catherine Miller.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Anderson Funeral Home, 202 East Main St, Gallatin, TN, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Dr. Howie Cantrell.

The Gallatin Police Department extends heartfelt condolences to Marquez's family, friends, and colleagues who had the honor of serving alongside him.

His unwavering dedication and service to the community will be deeply missed.
