Hendersonville Eagle Scout Honors Beloved Pets with Rainbow Bridge at Samson’s Dog Park

Local Scout's Project Creates Memorial for Departed Canine Companions

Hendersonville, TN—In a heartfelt tribute to cherished pets, local Eagle Scout Lamont Martin has unveiled the Rainbow Bridge Project at Samson’s Dog Park, offering a dedicated space for the community to honor their departed dogs.

The Rainbow Bridge serves as a symbolic passage, allowing pet owners to commemorate their furry friends by attaching leashes to the structure, creating a poignant and personal memorial.

Initiated in early spring, Martin's vision for the project materialized through his dedication and leadership. He spearheaded the fundraising and construction efforts, rallying volunteers to bring the bridge to life.

Andy Gilley, Director of Hendersonville Parks, praised the addition: “This Rainbow Bridge at Samson’s Dog Park is a tremendous new addition that people have really appreciated. The time and thought that Lamont and his family put into this project to cover so many details of ways to honor our furry friends was very special.”

The bridge has quickly become a cherished feature of the park, resonating with visitors who find solace and connection in remembering their pets.

Hendersonville officials are enthusiastic about collaborating with Eagle Scouts on future projects, recognizing the positive impact such initiatives have on the community and its recreational spaces.

In related news, other Eagle Scouts in the region have undertaken commendable projects. For instance, in May 2025, Hendersonville High School student Salvatore Napolitano constructed wheelchair-accessible garden beds at Elevate50, enhancing accessibility and community engagement.

Similarly, in April 2023, Loyd W. Lyons IV of Troop 999 in Sylva, NC, built a large red shed for the Sylva Community Garden, providing secure storage for gardening tools and supporting local food security efforts.

These projects underscore the significant contributions of Eagle Scouts in Sumner County and beyond, fostering community spirit and improving public spaces.
