Seven-Week Program Offers Residents an Inside Look at Law Enforcement Operations |
The Sumner County Sheriff's Office is set to reintroduce its Citizens Academy in 2026, providing residents with a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the agency's daily operations.
Scheduled to run from January 27 through March 14, the seven-week program will hold classes every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
Participants will delve into various divisions and specialties, including criminal investigations, jail operations, traffic crash reconstruction, K9 units, internal affairs, school resource officer programs, and active threat response.
Throughout the course, deputies and staff will lead attendees through demonstrations, presentations, and hands-on activities, offering a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement functions.
Class size is limited, and the sheriff's office encourages interested residents to secure their spots promptly.
In addition to the Citizens Academy, Sumner County is experiencing significant developments.
For instance, the Gallatin City Council has been actively advancing key development projects, including residential expansions and infrastructure improvements, reflecting the county's commitment to balanced growth.
Moreover, the county is considering legalizing and regulating buildings made from shipping containers, aiming to provide low-cost housing solutions.
These initiatives underscore Sumner County's dedication to community engagement and sustainable development.
