Welcome to the Sumner County Pulse – Your New Connection to Community Life |
Itβs with great excitement that I welcome you to the very first edition of the Sumner County Pulse β a new hub for everything happening right here in our corner of Tennessee. Whether youβve lived in Sumner County your whole life or are new to the area, this newsletter is designed to keep you informed, engaged, and connected with the community we all call home. After retiring from a long and fulfilling career, I found myself with something I hadnβt had in years: time. And with that time came a realization β I missed being part of something meaningful. I missed having a reason to wake up and contribute. But more than that, I saw an opportunity to fill a gap in our county: a trusted, go-to source that not only informs, but brings people together. Thatβs why I created the Sumner County Pulse. This newsletter is more than just a collection of headlines. It's your insiderβs guide to local events, small businesses, restaurants, arts and culture, and community stories that deserve to be told. From the hidden gems you didnβt know existed to the events you donβt want to miss, the Pulse aims to shine a light on all the vibrancy Sumner County has to offer. But I canβt do this alone. To make this vision truly come alive, I invite you to join our growing community on Facebook. Just Click Here to join us. The Sumner County Pulse Facebook group is where conversations happen between editions β a place to share upcoming events, discuss local news, recommend businesses, and suggest topics you'd like to see covered in future issues. Think of it as your digital town square. This newsletter is about you. Your stories. Your community. Your voice. Whether youβre a business owner, event organizer, concerned citizen, or someone who simply loves this county β I hope youβll find something here that resonates with you, inspires you, or makes your day a little brighter. A recent Beacon Poll of Tennessee voters revealed that 50% of respondents support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education, favoring a return of funding to the states per a proposed policy by the Trump Administration. This sentiment was particularly strong among Republicans, with a majority supporting the idea. Despite this support for elimination, 40% of voters still have a favorable opinion of the Department of Education. Governor Bill Lee emerged as the most popular politician in the state, surpassing President Trump in approval ratings. Senator Marsha Blackburn also enjoys popularity among Republicans, potentially making her a strong candidate in a Republican gubernatorial primary. Another notable finding was the bipartisan support for banning a statewide property tax, with 61% of Tennesseans in favor of the amendment. |
