Gap Inc. Invests $58 Million in Gallatin Facility, Creating 100 New Jobs

Major Expansion Strengthens Sumner County's Economic Landscape

Gap Inc. has unveiled plans for a substantial $58 million investment in its Gallatin distribution center, a move set to generate 100 new employment opportunities in Sumner County.

This initiative underscores the company's commitment to bolstering its U.S. operations and supporting its renowned brands, including Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, and Athleta.

Over the past eight years, Gap Inc. has channeled over $150 million into the Gallatin facility, solidifying its role as a pivotal economic contributor in the region.

Situated adjacent to Volunteer State Community College, the expansive 2.3 million-square-foot campus stands as the largest in the company's global distribution network.

Originally a traditional distribution center, it has evolved into a cutting-edge logistics hub, adeptly handling both retail and e-commerce orders for the company's diverse brand portfolio.

Notably, the Gallatin facility serves as a testing ground for innovative logistics technologies, featuring advanced robotics developed by U.S.-based Boston Dynamics.

These enhancements not only streamline operations but also create dynamic career opportunities for residents of Sumner County.

Facility upgrades are already in progress, with hiring for the new positions commencing immediately.

Prospective candidates interested in full- or part-time roles are encouraged to apply through the company's careers portal.

U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty remarked, "This investment is a true testament to Tennessee’s business-friendly climate and pro-growth policies. I'm pleased to see Gap grow its footprint in our state, which will build upon the great impact it’s already had on Tennessee, help create more jobs for hardworking families, and bolster our economy for years to come."

Local leaders, including House Majority Leader William Lamberth, Rep. Johnny Garrett, Rep. William Slater, and Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Ferrell Haile, jointly stated, "Sumner County is a special place, in part because of companies like Gap Inc. that recognize our community’s value and choose to invest here, even 30 years after first planting roots. This latest expansion is a testament to strong local partnerships and the dedicated Tennesseans who make our region a great place to live, work, and raise a family."

Kevin Kuntz, Senior Vice President of Logistics at Gap Inc., expressed, "At Gap Inc., we are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Gallatin community and excited to continue investing in this state-of-the-art campus. This $58 million project will further enhance our capabilities to meet the needs of our customers and support our team members with cutting-edge tools and infrastructure. Gallatin is a vital part of our distribution network, and we’re honored to further strengthen our commitment."

Mayor Paige Brown of Gallatin added, "Gap Inc. has been a valued member of our community for 30 years, and today’s announcement further solidifies their role as a cornerstone of our local economy. This significant investment demonstrates the company’s faith in our city and its people, and we are thrilled to see them continue to grow and thrive right here in Gallatin."

Rosemary Bates, Executive Director of the Gallatin Economic Development Agency, highlighted, "Gap Inc.’s focus on innovation in manufacturing is drawing attention from across the country. Their emphasis on improving operations and logistics—while still creating jobs—is a model that brings industry leaders to Gallatin to see it in action. Their mission is ours: innovation, research, development, and future-forward production."

This strategic investment by Gap Inc. not only reinforces its commitment to Sumner County but also exemplifies the region's appeal as a hub for business growth and innovation.

As the company continues to evolve and expand, the Gallatin community stands to benefit from increased employment opportunities and economic vitality.
