Community Food Pantry Aims to Raise $6,000 for Holiday Turkeys |
Hands of Hope Food Pantry in Portland, Tennessee, has kicked off its annual Thanksgiving Turkey Drive, running through October 31.
This year, the pantry has set an ambitious goal of raising $6,000 to provide full-size turkeys to families in need.
Donations are accepted in various forms, including cash, check, and Venmo.
Contributors can mail checks or deliver them in person to 101C South Russell Street.
The pantry's mission is to ensure that each family enjoys a traditional Thanksgiving meal, with the turkey as the centerpiece.
In addition to the turkey, clients will receive extra food items to complete their holiday feast.
Pantry clients are required to sign up in person during their next shopping visit, with registration closing on October 18.
If the fundraising goal is surpassed, additional funds will be allocated toward providing Christmas hams.
For those interested in volunteering during the holiday season, sign-ups are available through Hands On Nashville.
In conjunction with the Turkey Drive, Hands of Hope is conducting a Thanksgiving Food Drive.
The pantry is seeking donations of instant potatoes, stuffing mix, gravy, boxed desserts, canned vegetables, cranberry sauce, cornbread mix, disposable roasting pans, and small bags of flour.
Donations can be dropped off at the Sumner County Highway Department, located at 1051 Old Highway 109N in Gallatin.
Hands of Hope operates as a free grocery store, allowing clients to shop for their basic needs without charge.
Serving over 500 families monthly, the pantry relies on generous partners and volunteers to support the community.
