Join the Spooky Festivities at Cragfont State Historic Site in Castalian Springs, TN

As the crisp autumn air settles over Sumner County, the historic Cragfont State Historic Site in Castalian Springs, TN, invites you to an evening of ghostly tales and haunting melodies at the annual Haunts at the Font event.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 6:00 PM, this immersive experience promises to transport visitors back in time, unveiling the spectral stories that linger within the walls of this storied mansion.

Guests will embark on a lantern-lit journey, beginning at the historic tobacco barn and winding their way toward the imposing silhouette of Cragfont.

Along the path, attendees will encounter characters from Cragfont's spirited past, each sharing spine-tingling tales that have echoed through the ages.

To soothe the shivers, warm apple cider will be served by the fire, accompanied by the hauntingly beautiful strains of historic murder ballads performed by the renowned Traveling Caudells.

This year's event boasts new stories, ensuring a fresh experience even for returning visitors.

Given the event's popularity and limited tour sizes, reservations are strongly encouraged.

Advance ticket purchases are advised, as the event is likely to sell out.

Tickets will be available at the door on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission prices are as follows:

$15 for ages 16 and up

$12 for ages 9 to 15

Children under 9 are admitted free of charge.

Members can enjoy a $2 discount; please refer to the membership newsletter for the required code.

It's important to note that this event focuses on historical stories involving themes such as slavery, murder, and death, which may be too mature for children under nine years old.

The experience is primarily outdoors, with limited access to the historic house.

Guests will traverse approximately half a mile, including stairs in dimly lit conditions.

There will be no trick-or-treating or jump scares during the event.

For those planning to attend, the weather forecast for October 18 predicts plenty of sunshine, with a high of 71°F (22°C) and a low of 45°F (7°C).

Dress accordingly to ensure comfort throughout the evening.
