Hazardous Waste Collection Event Scheduled at Moss-Wright Park in Goodlettsville

Residents Encouraged to Safely Dispose of Household Hazardous Materials on October 18

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) is organizing a household hazardous waste collection event at Moss-Wright Park in Goodlettsville, TN, on Saturday, October 18, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents of Sumner County and surrounding areas are invited to participate in this free event, regardless of their county of residence.

Accepted items include cleaning fluids, pesticides, swimming pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, fluorescent lamps, lithium and button batteries, aerosols, adhesives, medications, brake fluid, and used needles in sturdy containers.

Items not accepted are ammunition, explosives, alkaline batteries, paint, electronics, and empty containers.

Participants are advised to transport materials in sturdy boxes lined with newspaper or plastic to prevent spills and to keep them away from children and pets during transit.

For more information, contact William Brown at (615) 452-1114.

In addition to this event, the Resource Authority in Sumner County provides waste disposal services at their transfer station.

However, due to a significant fire in April 2024, operations have been adjusted.

Residential waste disposal is currently limited to Fridays and Saturdays, while commercial waste disposal is permitted Monday through Friday.

Proper disposal of hazardous waste is crucial for environmental protection and public health.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of hazardous materials responsibly.

For more information on household hazardous waste collection services, visit the TDEC website.
