Lieutenant Ricky Ellis was recently celebrated at Portland City Hall for his remarkable 20-year tenure with the Portland Police Department.
During the ceremony, Mayor Mike Callis and Police Chief Jason Arnold presented Lt. Ellis with a plaque, acknowledging his unwavering dedication and the significant impact he has made on the community.
Chief Arnold highlighted Lt. Ellis's exceptional leadership and positive attitude, emphasizing his willingness to assist anyone in need.
He noted that Lt. Ellis's sense of humor and personable nature make him a valued member of the force.
Lt. Ellis's deep care for the community is evident through his diligent police work.
In his current role, Lt. Ellis oversees fleet management, quartermaster duties, and building maintenance for the department.
As the General Departmental Instructor, he ensures all sworn personnel comply with POST regulations.
Additionally, he serves as a team leader on the Sumner County Emergency Response Team, responding to high-risk critical incidents.
Reflecting on the past year, Chief Arnold praised Lt. Ellis for his outstanding management of the department's remodel project, attributing its success to his knowledge and leadership.
The department extends heartfelt congratulations to Lt. Ellis for reaching this significant milestone and expresses gratitude for his dedicated service.
Lt. Ellis began his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Watertown Police Department before joining the Portland Police Department in 2005.
He has progressed through the ranks, serving as Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Corporal, and Sergeant, before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2017.
His extensive training includes certifications in firearms instruction, officer survival, defensive tactics, and both basic and advanced SWAT operations.
Beyond his departmental duties, Lt. Ellis contributes to the broader law enforcement community as an Adjunct Instructor at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, specializing in firearms and basic SWAT training.
His commitment to professional development and community safety continues to set a standard of excellence within the department. |
