Red Cross Lifeguard Training in Sumner County TN

The Gallatin Civic Center in Sumner County offers American Red Cross lifeguard certification classes, scheduled based on community interest. 

 

To enroll, participants must be at least 15 years old at the start of the class. A pre-course swimming test is required, which includes swimming 150 yards, treading water without using arms for two minutes, and swimming an additional 50 yards. Another component involves retrieving a 10-pound brick from a depth of 10 feet and returning it to the starting point within a specified time.

 

The course fee is $250, covering CPR/AED training. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and final skill and written tests.

Additionally, the Sumner County YMCA offers lifeguard training courses, including CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Training. These courses are scheduled periodically, with upcoming sessions in May 2026. Participants must be 15 years or older and meet specific swimming requirements.
