USPS Implements New Postal Rates Effective July 13, 2025

Sumner County Residents Face Increased Mailing Costs Amid Nationwide Changes

Sumner County residents are now experiencing higher mailing costs as the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) implemented new postal rates on July 13, 2025.

The price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp has increased by 5 cents, bringing the cost to 78 cents, up from 73 cents.

This adjustment is part of a broader strategy by the USPS to achieve financial stability under its "Delivering for America" 10-year plan.

Other notable changes include:

Metered letters (1 ounce): Increased from 69 cents to 74 cents.

Domestic postcards: Increased from 56 cents to 61 cents.

International postcards and one-ounce letters: Increased from $1.65 to $1.70.

Additional ounces for single-piece letters: Increased from 28 cents to 29 cents.

In a move to provide some relief, the USPS has reduced postal insurance rates by 12%, offering customers a more affordable option when mailing valuable items.

These rate adjustments are part of the USPS's ongoing efforts to modernize operations and address financial challenges.

Despite the increases, USPS leaders emphasize that U.S. postage rates remain among the lowest globally.

For Sumner County residents, these changes mean adjusting to higher mailing costs for everyday correspondence and packages.

It's advisable to check the latest rates before sending mail to ensure accurate postage.

For more detailed information on the new rates and services, visit your local post office or the official USPS website.

Staying informed will help you navigate these changes effectively.
