House Majority Leader William Lamberth and Senate Speaker Pro Tempore Ferrell Haile recently announced the securing of $12 million for critical water infrastructure in north Sumner County. The funding, awarded through a Regionalization American Rescue Plan Water Infrastructure Grant in 2023, will be utilized to update aging water infrastructure, aid in drought mitigation, and enhance inter-connectivity for safe drinking water during natural disasters. The project, aimed at ensuring reliable and safe water for residents, received approval from the Tennessee General Assembly and will be administered by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The $12 million investment is seen as a crucial step in fortifying water resources for north Sumner County, promoting economic development, and strengthening communities for future growth and emergencies. The funding is part of a balanced budget passed by the Tennessee General Assembly, showing dedication to improving infrastructure for long-term prosperity and resilience. |
On May 21, 2025, the Hendersonville Police Department (HPD) investigated a series of vehicle burglaries at a gym on Bluegrass Commons Blvd. The suspect, identified as Thomas Hooghe, 67, from Jackson, Mississippi, broke into gym lockers, stole vehicle key fobs, and burglarized four vehicles, taking cash from one. Knoxville and Belle Meade Police Departments provided vital information, recognizing Hooghe's vehicle in similar cases. Through License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems, they confirmed his presence in Hendersonville during the crimes. HPD tracked Hooghe to Jackson, Tennessee and coordinated with local authorities for his arrest. Hooghe faces charges and is scheduled for a court appearance. Collaboration between law enforcement agencies and LPR technology played a crucial role in the swift arrest. |
